Online sexism, bipartisan condemnation. La Russa: "Extremely serious." The Democratic Party: "Horrifying."

Bipartisan outcry over the photos stolen from politicians' social media profiles and posted on an adult website. Senate President La Russa expressed his "firm condemnation" while the Democratic Party called the incident "alarming and appalling."
"I wish to express my firm condemnation of the online sexism incident involving numerous women—public figures, politicians, and many ordinary people—whose photos were stolen from their social media profiles and then retouched and posted on an adult website. This is a very serious incident, one that arouses profound outrage, and I hope that the relevant authorities—who have already opened an investigation—will soon identify those responsible. I extend my sincere sympathy, both personally and on behalf of the Senate, to the many women involved and their families." Senate President Ignazio La Russa wrote on Facebook.
"What has been reported in the past few hours by, among others, Valeria Campagna, Alessandra Moretti, Alessia Morani, Lia Quartapelle, and Simona Malpezzi, to whom I extend my full solidarity, is both appalling and alarming. The use of social media and platforms by some people, both anonymously and otherwise, to make sexist and retrograde comments about women unaware of their objectification is serious and truly disgusting. Once again, these events confirm the need for action to prevent and combat gender-based violence in all its forms. I hope the Postal Police will quickly shed light on these online networks and close down the sites and Facebook groups." This was stated in a statement by Marta Bonafoni , coordinator of the Democratic Party's national secretariat and head of Associations and the Third Sector.
